EMERGENCY FOOD AID – HELPING WAR REFUGEES IN ETHIOPIA, 2024

Even though the Ethiopian civil war is officially over, military conflict and outbreaks of extreme violence remain common and many civilians are still seeking shelter in refugee camps. Colleagues from the International Fund for Africa (IFA) describe the need as great.

We have helped by donating to the struggle against malnutrition for very young children living in a camp in the troubled northern region of Amhara.

To date, we have sent funds for roughly 360 infants to be fed for more than a month each with Famix, a flour mix that is locally prepared, palatable for very young children (under-twos) and easy to prepare in shelters and camps. The mix is soy-based, with corn and some minerals.

In addition to alleviating immediate hunger, this support has hopefully reduced the risk of stunting and chronic disease.

We are grateful for the support you give and for sharing the burden with us.
Tsedaye Bezabeh, Programme Director, IFA
